Is It Really Necessary To Exfoliate?

Exfoliation is one of the most important aspects of your home skincare routine for face and body. Exfoliation not only helps many skin problems, it also increases blood circulation, which in turn helps you to achieve healthy and glowing skin.

Proper exfoliation removes the barrier of dead skin cells clogging the skin and uncovers fresh new cells below. This opens the way for moisturizing products to penetrate more deeply into the skin, which makes them more effective. In short, a regular exfoliating routine will leave your skin looking fresh and healthy.

Exfoliating needs to be considered a 'must do' part of each persons' skin routine. As we age, shedding becomes an uneven process that leads to dry, dull and uneven rough skin. Exfoliation is necessary to effectively remove the dead skin cells evenly so that an even skin tone can be achieved.

It is important to note that over-exfoliating can cause chronic skin irritation and inflammation, which can lead to accelerated aging. Ideally, you should be exfoliating two to three times a week for normal and combination skin, and once a week for sensitive skin.

Exfoliating regularly can also help to reduce things like shaving rashes, as it removes the top layer of dead skin cells and additional toxins, giving your razor and shaving cream the cleanest slate possible to remove hair from. To exfoliate like a pro, start at your ankles and scrub in small circles up until you hit the top of your thighs.
